TEFLON TAPE, PLUMBERS TAPE

Teflon tape also known as plumbers tape is used to seal the threaded connection between pipe and fittings instead of pipe dope.  When applied properly it helps provide a leak-tight seal that resists corrosion and prevents dripping and leakage.

What is Teflon tape?  Teflon tape is a smooth, thin ribbon-like non-adhesive tape made of polytetrafluoroethylene and is used to seal pipe connections to prevent leaks.  Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a synthetic fluoropolymer with many applications due to its chemical inertness and low friction.

Teflon tape is used for:

• Sealing a threaded pipe connection
• Connecting a fitting to a pipe and sealing the threads on the connection
• Wrapping around pipe threads before screwing the parts together
• Sealing a pipe connection
• Making a pipe connection leak tight
• Use teflon tape instead of pipe dope to seal a connection
• Connecting pipe to a tank fitting and sealing the threads

Teflon tape has many applications in getting the best leak resistant seal.  If you want to seal your threaded plumbing connections polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) teflon tape is a good choice.
